Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition Revealed
Capcom announced Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and will be available to purchase as a digital download in Summer 2015. The Special Edition will include the original 2008 release, plus three new playable characters, Legendary Dark Knight Mode and additional gameplay improvements. Today, the first trailer has been released to showcase the new and improved features from this chapter in the Devil May Cry series.
Although he’s not the main star of the show, Dante’s twin brother Vergil is stealing the spotlight. He arrives in Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition as a playable character, complete with upgraded moves and graphics since his appearance in Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening Special Edition.
The ladies are also taking center stage, as players are now able to control the action as the mysterious Trish taking on Dante’s missions in the main story and, for the first time ever in the Devil May Cry series, the demon hunter Lady taking on Nero’s. With a total of five playable characters, this gives Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition the largest roster of playable characters in any Devil May Cry game to date.
In Legendary Dark Knight Mode, first introduced in the PC release of Devil May Cry 4, console players will now be able to take on the challenge of fighting hordes of enemies all at once, putting their combat skills to the ultimate test. In this mode, enemies spawn in greater numbers and with more strength and vitality, allowing players more time to execute longer, more exciting combos.
Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition supports 1080p resolution and also retains the original title’s smooth 60fps. Further improvements to the game tempo and balancing will be made.
In addition to these new features, there will be a set of new costumes and skins that are designed to be completely compatible with in-game cutscenes. This will bring a fresh new look to scenes some fans may have seen before.
