Nintendo Announces Mobile Gaming Intentions, Teases Next-Gen Console
At a press conference in Japan today, Nintendo announced that it has partnered with Japanese mobile game company DeNA to develop and publish games for smart phones and tablets that utilize Nintendo’s library of intellectual properties. The deal will only see Nintendo developing new products for smart phones; it has no plans to port or recycle games that already exist on Wii, Wii U, or 3DS. Nintendo expects to release at least one game through DeNA this year, though it did not provide any further details on it.
Also during the conference, Nintendo confirmed that it is currently developing a new dedicated game platform with a brand new concept under the development codename ‘NX’.
